I’ve always been pretty vocally (well, relatively) opposed to Karofsky’s redemption in regards to Kurt, just because I can’t personally forgive a character that threatens someone else’s life? And by “someone else”, I mean Kurt. Just so we’re clear. I’ve got very little room for “maybe” when it comes to someone who makes Kurt Hummel feel unsafe. That’s the level I’m on right now. Cards on the table. I don’t even want to hear arguments to the contrary. Besides, I’m all for a good “fall of the king” arc, but Karofsky’s storyline has just felt so heavy-handed and dull. If anything, tonight proved that he’s pretty much still stuck where he started - closeted and volatile - and I almost wish his scene at the bar (which I really enjoyed! I wish only good things for scared high schoolers!) had been his last.
I don’t give a shit about Finchel. Well, I wish I didn’t give a shit about Finchel, but unfortunately I care a good deal about Rachel Berry and her perfect fathers (AND Jeff Goldblum referring to her by her Hebrew name!!!!). I wish Rachel’s life was always built around people supporting her and believing in her and singing around a piano. Get Finn Hudson out of there, bring Hiram and Leroy in full-time, then call me back. I’ll be waiting by the phone.
I think I would have enjoyed the double standard bit a lot more if I didn’t see Ryan Murphy’s frowning face telling me “THERE, we acknowledged it. Are you placated? Will you shut the fuck up?” Like, fuck you, there’s a difference between changing a character’s sexuality before that character appears in an episode and writing an episode called “I Kissed a Girl” in which NO GIRLS ACTUALLY KISS OTHER GIRLS. I get to complain about this. On the other hand, Naya Rivera could make literally any line great, and that kiss was pretty perfect.
This feels really angry, can we all just circle back to the good things? Tie pulling! Mercedes in that red dress! Blaine Anderson wearing a heart shaped eye patch? Someone’s getting it on in the back of Kurt’s car 2nite.
